The Athens Photo Festival 2011 peaks with the opening of the central exhibition program, which will take place on Wednesday 2 November at 20:00 in all areas of “Technopolis” Municipality of Athens (Piraeus 100 Gazi).
Athens Photo Festival 2011 in “Technopolis”

The program of Athens Photo Festival 2011, culminates with the opening of the main exhibition program. Besides the exhibitions, the program consists of various events such as Athens Photo Inspiration 2011, Photography Nights, Portfolio reviews, Photography as Photography, masterclasses, bookshop, educational programs for children, volunteer’s programs and special tours.

Technopolis is a complex of buildings that covers an area of approximately 30 acres, administered as a cultural venue by the Municipality of Athens. Technopolis constitutes a live industrial museum of incomparable architecture and one of the most interesting in Europe. It is located in the old Gas factory of Athens, known as “Gazi”, next to Keramikos and close to the Acropolis.

Lecture
The opening will be preceded by a lecture at the Auditorium of “Technopolis” of Municipality of Athens at 18:30, by Jan-Erik Lundström on “Emotion and Fact: Swedish photography today”.

Photography as performance
During inauguration will take place the “Performance as photography” curated by Demosthenes Agrafiotis and the participation of the artists Michele Valley, Hope, Christina Georgiou, Rozina Ivanova, Christina-Amalia Chariokopoulou. Maria-Louiza Biri, Sofia-Iliana Georgiadi, Demosthenes Agrafiotis.
